Hey you, hacker, designer, cypherpunk. You heard there was a new web out there. Better and safer than all that came before. You read about it, maybe even opened your browser to see for yourself. Well guess what? That’s Web3. And I’m here to tell you more about it!

Web3 is still in early development, but the progress has been amazing. The largest hurdles to widespread adoption of the technology have been solved in recent weeks by the key developers working on web3.

Put simply, web3 is the future of the internet. Let’s start with what the internet is: a decentralized global network of computers that uses standard protocols to pass data (messages, pictures, web pages, etc.) back and forth. The web3 movement aims to replace Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and centralized servers with peer-to-peer connections.

We are living in a complex, networked world. The contemporary web is built on the foundations of technologies that were first defined 25 years ago. Web3 is the next evolution of the web. Designed to serve the billions of people who intend on living and building on the web, it will offer a powerful new platform for innovation. Basically the goal of web3 is to recreate the functionality found in web2.0 applications layer, but with true decentralization. Web3 is the next logical step in the evolution of the internet, a decentralized web.

The Decentralized Web movement is all about giving Web users the ability to use a new suite of tools and apps that keep their data in the hands of Web users, rather than in the hands of Silicon Valley giants like Facebook, Apple and Google. And who better to lead this charge than the masses?
